11 week Dr. Appt.

Well, I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! :) Ours was very relaxing as the Grandparents come to us these days! I had my first official doctors appointment yesterday with Dr. Bird. I love her! She was the one who delivered Taryn and is just the sweetest person. So far I have lost .6 lbs...... I don't know how I did that as I scarfed down on all the Christmas goodies, but I did. This was the first appointment that they tried to listen to the heartbeat, but lil peanut wasn't exactly cooperating. I was a little worried, but they said not to be..... and something else about my uterus tilting back may make it a little difficult to hear this early. So, off to the ultrasound room just for peace of mind to actually see the heart. Peanut must have been napping as well, b/c it looked like the baby was lying in a hammock with feet outstretched on the very bottom of my uterus. So far, so good. I am already having trouble getting comfortable when I sleep, which is insane, but I am starting my exercise routine back up. Maybe that will help! Next appointment: January 28. :)
Actual Due Date: July 22, 2009
Happy New Year Everyone!

Almost!

So, after two lovely weekends with the extended family we have almost told everyone that is near and dear to our hearts that would probably kill us had they heard from other sources. We are only down to Mark's childhood friend and family who are stationed in Germany. We have done so well with telling everyone in person, that we owe it to them as well. Now if only I can find a decent webcam that works for us to use Skype, it wouldn't be so dang hard!

At my Aunt's house last weekend we gave her a bib that read "I love Gigi". Mark and Megan had a bet as to whether or not Ginger would get it. It took her a minute. :) Too funny. Everyone is really excited!

Yesterday Mark's Aunt wanted Taryn to say the blessing. I had told his Dad that we hadn't planned on telling them that way, but that she was well trained and there was no way to stop her from adding the baby part on the end. She is the only grandchild out of all Mark's family so everyone really enjoyed her cute little blessing!

We had a great time with all of the family and look forward to the special times and memories we will create this CHRISTmas! :)

Thanksgiving

Well, all went as planned for our little family announcement! Taryn did a fantastic job with her blessing! We went all out and let Taryn do the blessing for both family dinners. She and I practiced in the bedroom before dinner at my parents. Both Mom and Dad were fine with her saying it, but Mom wanted to give Anna the chance to sing her song as well........ once Taryn said, "Amen." My mom cut her off right in the middle of "and God bless......" Funny! Both Mark and I perked up and told them she wasn't finished yet! They let her finish and were thrilled. Then is was Anna's turn. :) I don't have any video of that event, but I was armed and ready at Mark's Parents! We all gathered around the kitchen island as there was not enough room for 11 folks in the dining room. I had the camera perched on the bakers rack and had told everyone that Mark and I wanted to make sure we had her saying the blessing on video, and what better time to do it than at Thanksgiving!!!!! Miss T did her thing, and it took a minute or two, but the room erupted in cheer! I will post it once I can figure out how to retrive it in usable format from my home computer! All in all, it was perfect! We are set up to do it again on Sunday as we get to tell my aunt, and cousin........mother and sister of the cousin, Megan, who has painstakingly kept our little secret from them for weeks! Thanks, Meggie! :)

The First Appointment

Well, today we had our first appointment. I didn't meet with a Physician today, but we spent plenty of time in the office! We had our first ultrasound were we got to see our little peanut! In the spirit of Ashlee Simpson's Mowgli, a friend here at the office lovingly refers to the baby as Rafiki........ That makes me giggle! We also had to sit down and list through the family medical history, ugh. They have all of this from Taryn, but a lot can happen in 3 yrs, so I didn't mind too much. And then the blood work. All in all, everything is looking good. We got to see the heartbeat, and everything is right on track! They have set my due date for July 22. Let the countdown begin! :)

Good Times

Let the fun times begin! Luckily I have not been sick as a result of the pregnancy......feverishly knocking on wood, but I have had a nasty sinus cold. Had I not had so much work to do, I probably would have taken a day off. On the other hand, I need to start saving up some vacation and sick time now. I called the doctor's office on Friday to make sure I knew what I could/could not take. Man, all the good drugs are off the list!!!!! :-( During the same call, I set up my first OB appointment for Dec 11. I should be about 9 weeks then. This cold really has gotten the best of me, but then again, there could be a little mommy fatigue mixed in. We all had a really good weekend. We did some stuff around the house, hung out with some friends for a great game of Cranium, and then Mark, T, and I finished out the weekend with a good ole game of Candy Land! For some reason she really likes saying Lord Licorice.....but her version is "Mr. Nikorish". She so cracks me up! I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. This will definitely be one to remember!!!!

The Big News

Well, it appears that Miss Taryn Reese is going to be a BIG SISTER!!!!! We knew one day this moment would come, but lately we had both been on the fence about things. We wanted to make sure our Princess had everything in the world available to her....just shy of being spoiled completely rotten! I know they say one is hard, but 2 is not twice as hard......it's 3 times as hard! I know that seems very silly, but there are so many blessings that come with a new child! There are twice the giggles, twice the hugs, kisses, funny comments, silly faces, and more love than you know what to do with! I could go on and on. We heve been truly blessed by God, and I look forward to our journey together as a family of 4.

Both Mark and I had a feeling last week, but I confirmed the test on Friday, November 14, 2008.......by myself..... in a hotel room in Asheville. I had gone for a conference for work, and I couldn't handle not knowing for sure. I think I only talked to Mark 6 times that day and on the way home among other family members. I couldn't spill the beans.....I really wanted to tell him in person. That was also a little difficult because my cousin Megan was in town with us for the weekend, so I had to track Mark down in our bedroom closet.....I know, How sweet! Hahahaha. Being that Mark cannot keep a secret AT ALL, he played the guessing game with Megan over dinner. She's quick! In about 30 seconds she had guessed it, and proceeded to just about strangle me with hugs! I love hugs!!!! So, Megan was the FIRST person we told. Some people say you shouldn't tell people so early, but in the event that something does go wrong, wouldn't it be best that those who love you the most be your support system? We haven't told Taryn yet. Three-yr-olds don't really have the "secret" thing under control. We have asked her if she would want a brother or sister, and she does.....but that may change once the baby is here. I hope not!!!! We also have not told our parents yet. With Taryn, my parents were living in Asheville (in February) and so we just called. We told his parents in person. This time is gonna be a blast! I told Mark that I want to wait unitl Thanksgiving when EVERYONE is together. I can't wait to see the look on their faces. We are going to Pittsboro for my family on Thursday, and his parents on Saturday. For all of our dinners at The Massey's, Taryn normally says the cutest blessing.......this year, she is going to add on the part about "thank you for my new baby brother or sister"...... I am planning on recording this, as she is the cutest thing in the world.....plus I want to catch the chaos that will ensue!!!!! :) I think the hard part is going to be telling my parents w/o Taryn really comprehending it. I don't want her to tell his parents before we sit down, but whatever happens will happen! If all goes as "planned" I will have some videos to post next time! :)
